📢 Overview

The Embassy of India, Kathmandu has officially announced the Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship Scheme (MGSS) and the Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme (GJSS) for the academic year 2025-26 .
These scholarships aim to support Nepalese students studying in Nepal who have demonstrated strong academic performance and come from economically weaker backgrounds.

Applications can be submitted online only through the official portal:

🎓 Mahatma Gandhi Scholarship Scheme (MGSS) 2025-26 – For Class 11 Students

🧾 Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a regular student of Class 11 (not diploma) in a recognized institution in Nepal.

  • Must have secured at least 60% marks in Class 10 .

  • Must be a citizen of Nepal (citizenship certificate of self and parents required).

  • Family income must be less than NPR 2,00,000 per year .

  • Applicant must not be receiving any other scholarship .

  • Upload required documents:

    • Class 10 mark sheet

    • Proof of studying in Class 11

    • Citizenship certificates (self + parents)

    • Income certificate

    • Disability certificate (if applicable)

💰 Scholarship Amount:

  • NPR 24,000/- per year for 2 years (Class 11 & 12) .

  • Renewal for Class 12 requires submission of:

    • Class 11 mark sheet

    • Proof of studying in Class 12


🎓 Golden Jubilee Scholarship Scheme (GJSS) 2025-26 – For Bachelor Students

🧾 Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be a regular student in the 1st year of a Bachelor's degree in a recognized college/university in Nepal.

  • Must have secured at least 70% marks in Class 12 .

  • Age should be between 17-22 years as of 1 July 2026 .

  • Must be a citizen of Nepal (citizenship certificate of self and parents required).

  • Family income must be less than NPR 2,00,000 per year .

  • Applicant must not be receiving any other scholarship .

⚠️ Important Instructions

  1. Applications must be submitted only through the official online portal – no offline or postal submissions are accepted.

  2. Do not apply through consultants or agents. The Embassy of India accepts applications directly from students.

  3. Ensure all uploaded documents are clear, readable, and attested by the Principal/Head of your institution.

  4. Use a valid email address and keep it safe for future communication.

  5. Double-check all details before final submission; No corrections can be made after submission .

  6. The Embassy reserves the right to reject any application without providing reasons.
